Remembering W&W 2016
2016 – Rain, rain go away!
Now I know you all know our festival is weather dependent, but come on, a cancellation in 2015, with high hopes for 2016, just wasn’t meant to be. Our Friday events went off despite the weather, but with schools closed, our aviation education day boasted only a few students, but those determined students had quality time with our vendors and speakers. The Big Band show was a perfect night for dancing, but we all shared in the sadness of the passing, only a week before of Joe Ziegler who played Lou Costello. He was the consummate showman and will be so missed. So then along comes event day and we all woke up to rain showers. Ever the optimist and not wanting to cancel after such hard work and planning, the show went on as planned. Vendors were there, Lt Col Dick Cole was there, the USAF enlistees and brass where there, the USO Singing Troop was there, but alas things just weren’t meant to be and again the weather forced our hand and we had to shut down at 2 pm. While I realize the vendors, especially the food vendors put out a lot of money and when something like this happen, it can’t be good, but as I have said all along, if you knew what this planning committee went through, you might be able to understand the difficulty of the call. So, now we put the past behind us, we ask everyone to do all the dancing and praying they can do for good weather as we celebrate our 10th anniversary. We have some great things happening, welcoming back, after 3 years the US Naval Academy Parachute Team and the addition of the EAA Young Eagles Program. We want to say a huge THANK YOU for all our sponsors, vendors and participants for their support last year and over the last 10 years. We hope to see you this October and celebrate with us.
